During peak hours, the Buchrain highway junction in the Lucerne agglomeration already operates at its capacity. With expected urban development, wait times and traffic congestion are anticipated to worsen. A traffic study thoroughly analyzed the "Buchrain Highway Junction" system. SWISSTRAFFIC AG, in collaboration with AKP Verkehrsingenieur AG, conducted a two-week traffic survey using license plate recognition to assess through traffic on the Hauptstrasse – Buchrainstrasse route in Buchrain, distinguishing between vehicle classes. This data will facilitate short- and long-term development planning.
URBAN CENTER REDEVELOPMENT IN ALTSTÄTTEN
Altstätten, the only city in the St. Gallen Rhine Valley, sits at the intersection of several major roads (Stoss-, Rorschacher-, Kriessern-, and Oberrieterstrasse).
All these connections pass through the historic city center, leading to increased traffic and significant conflicts between urban development, environment, and traffic. Residents and employees are exposed to high levels of noise and pollution. To enhance quality of life, SWISSTRAFFIC AG is aiding the city with a detailed traffic survey and subsequent analysis of the impacts of various road infrastructure projects. Forty license plate cameras and ten intersection flow counts via video, including congestion analysis at railroad crossings, over a week, form the basis for data analysis and quality assurance, graphical representations of results, and detailed traffic modeling. Additionally, recommendations for improving traffic flow and assessing the impact of proposed projects are being developed.
MOLLIS - NETSTAL CONNECTION
Since the opening of the cross-link in Netstal at the end of November 2023, coupled with the simultaneous closure of the old Linthbrücke, congestion issues have increased on the national road as well as on the cross-link (Mollis – Netstal connection).
🚦 To address these challenges, SWISSTRAFFIC AG is supporting the canton of Glarus with a comprehensive traffic survey, including analysis of traffic behavior through license plate surveys and intersection flow counts. Based on this data, SWISSTRAFFIC is developing a customized traffic model allowing for the simulation of various measures to improve traffic quality.
🎯 Our goal is to develop optimal solutions and recommendations based on these analyses and simulations, benefiting all residents of the Glarus region. At SWISSTRAFFIC, we are confident that our work will contribute to sustainably improving the traffic situation and enhancing quality of life throughout the entire region. 👨👩👧👦🌍

CONFLICT ANALYSIS OF CYCLING AND MOTORIZED TRAFFIC WITH AI
SWISSTRAFFIC AG uses artificial intelligence to assess possible conflict situations between busy cycling traffic and motorised traffic.
SWISSTRAFFIC AG uses artificial intelligence to assess possible conflict situations between busy cycling traffic and motorised traffic. During the test surveys, the traffic flows (MIV, public transport and bicycle) are collected by our swissSCOUT AI and the data is analysed in real time in encrypted form on site (full compliance with data protection). The technology used recognises the multimodal traffic flows as well as the speeds of the road users and can draw conclusions for possible conflicts. This method is suitable for the statistical evaluation of risk situations, as well as for monitoring the success of the implementation of measures (comparison before and after).

AMBIENT NOISE - HOW NOISY IS THE CITY?
Ambient noise is one of the greatest environmental health risks. How high is the noise pollution in Swiss cities and municipalities? SWISSTRAFFIC examines the noise pollution in detail and uses an intelligent acoustic sensor with integrated AI.
During the current home office obligation, it will be quiet on the streets. Ambient noise is one of the greatest environmental health risks. It is estimated that long-term exposure to environmental noise causes 12,000 premature deaths and contributes to 48,000 new cases of heart disease each year in Europe. Despite the efforts, noise pollution hardly changed between 2012-2017. The longer-term prospects are also not encouraging and it is likely that noise will also increase outside urban areas by 2030 (see https://lnkd.in/drcUXwV).
PROMOTING CYCLING WITH SWISSLASER
Would you also like to promote cycling? The swissLASER: Counting of bicycle traffic and pedestrians in separate directions with optional LED display on stele in real time and online dashboard.
How high is the noise pollution in Swiss cities and communities? Together with our partner SecuraXis, we examine the noise pollution in detail. The decibel specification alone is not sufficient for this. We use the intelligent acoustic sensor with integrated AI to identify vehicle classes and distinguish between different noise sources. SWISSTRAFFIC AG uses this #data for precise impact analyses. It is now possible to study how commuter traffic affects ambient noise. By reducing noise pollution, we want to improve the quality of life in cities and communities.
